QG is happy to announce its participation at Art Antwerp 2022 with a solo presentation of works by the French artist Bernard Joubert (b. 1946, Paris).
Focussing on works from the 1970’s, the presentation will highlight his ribbon paintings, collages, and photography. Starting in the early 1970’s, he begins to apply painted ribbons directly pinned on walls which create open geometrical shapes. Continuing this practice, Bernard Joubert applies his ribbons to paper and newspaper to create intricate collages showcasing these shapes. An astute photographer, Bernard also travelled with his Rectangle, 1976, around the world, temporarily installing them in the streets of Paris, New York, Brussels and Venice, and taking poetic black & white photographs of these installations to create a permanent trace.
Bernard Joubert has exhibited in numerous international galleries and museums, including in galleries: Galerie Yvon Lambert in Paris (1974-1981), Albert Baronian in Brussels (1975,1977), Rolf Ricke in Cologne (1977), Galerie Ugo Ferranti (Rome, 1977), Hal Bromm in New York (1978). And in museums and international events: Contemporeana (1974, Rome), Biennale de Paris(1975), Musée de Saint-Etienne (solo, 1975), Musée de Grenoble (solo, 1976), Plan & Space (Ghent, 1977), The Art of Performance (Venice, 1979), amongst others. Museum collections include: the Museum of Modern Art (New York), Musée d'Art Moderne de Paris, Collection Panza di Biumo, LaM Villeneuve d'Ascq, amongst others.
